AGARTALA, March 8 (TIWN): Governor Tathagata Roy on Tuesday flagged off a twelve days long National Integration Tour at Assam Rifles.
The programme was organized by the Assam Rifles HQ 21 sector.
The main aim of the tour is to providing the students with an exposure to the cultural heritage of our country and an opportunity to visit various places.
Appreciating the initiatives taken by the Assam Rifles, Governor Tathagata Roy expressed delight for promoting such a noble cause initiative.
During the programme, Governor Tathagata Roy interacted with the students.
Besides, a cycle rally was also organized as a part of the end of the National Integration Tour of the Assam Rifles.
It is to be mentioned here that the tour consisting of 25 children with four teachers and a team of 4 AR visited Delhi, Agra, Jaipur and Shillong. However, the initiative has been taken as a part of the Civic Action Project undertaken by 4 Assam Rifles.
The member of the tour during the visit to Delhi visited the President of India Pranab Mukherjee and had an interaction.
Besides, the students have also met with the high ranked Army officials.
The children on return to Shillong during the grand finale of the tour have attended the Assam Rifles Day celebration in HQ DGAR.
However, with an aim to integrate children from north-eastern states with the rest of the country, Assam Rifles took an initiative to recently arrange a national integration tour for students.
