NEW DELHI / AGARTALA, Jan 29 (TIWN) : Agartala is not enlisted in top 20 smart cities in India. Rather Bhubaneswar City tops in the competitive selection process of first 20 cities to develop as smart cities in India. Union Development Minister M Venkaiah Naidu has announced the list of first top 20 smart cities Today which will receive the fund by the government for the development of smart cities across India. The most ambitious 100 smart cities project was launched by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi last year on 21 June 2015.
These first top 20 cities have been selected out of 98 cities after a competitive process of selection.In the selection process of smart cities, Bhubaneswar tops in the list and Pune and Jaipur coming in at the second and third places. The next two years the government will see for the inclusion of 40 and 38 cities, respectively.
These cities will be developed with the better and basic infrastructure through assured water and power supply, sanitation and solid waste management, efficient urban mobility and public transport, IT connectivity, e-governance and citizen participation.
