AGARTALA, Jan 25 (TIWN): On the eve of the celebration of the Republic Day, a cultural programme has been organized on Monday at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhawan.
The programme has been organized with the initiatives of the School Education Department (Secondary Education). Altogether students of fifteen schools of the State have participated at the cultural programme.
The fifteen schools includes Pallimangal Higher Secondary School, Bhati Abhoynagar (Kathaltali) Senior Basic School, Achajya Prafullya Chandra Smrity Higher Secondary School, Sr. B. R Ambedkar Higher Secondary (Aralia), Choudhuri Bari Girls’ Higher Secondary School, MGM Higher Secondary School, Bordowali Higher Secondary School, Mohanpur Girls’ Higher Secondary School, Ramnagar Girls’ Higher Secondary School, Amtali Higher Secondary School, Hindi Higher Secondary School, Kamalghat Higher Secondary School and others.
The day is being celebrated to honour the Constitution of India which came in to force on 26 January 1950 replacing the Government of India Act (1935) as the governing document of India.
The Constitution was adopted by the Indian Constituent Assembly on 26 November 1949, and came into effect on 26 January 1950 with a democratic government system, completing the country's transition towards becoming an independent republic.
It is to be mentioned here that a Tribal folk dance has been organized at the premises of Sukanta Academy on January 24, keeping eye on the celebration of the Republic Day.’
Along with the Nation, Tripura is also gearing to celebrate Republic Day in a befitting manner throughout various day-long programmes onJanuary 26. As part of day-long celebration, the main function is expected to take place at Assam Rifles ground.
However, the Indian Government has declared the day as a national holiday.
