AGARTALA, Jan 24 (TIWN): 12th Bi-ennial conference of Tripura Gramin Bank officers union was conducted at Matangini Pritilata Hall on Sunday.
The conference discussed on the budget and expenditure, demands and proposal were also tabled for the development of the Gramin Bank.
A souvenir was also published on the occasion of the 12th general conference of Tripura Gramin Bank officers union.
Urban Development Minister Manik Dey while addressing the 12th Bi-ennial conference of Tripura Gramin Bank officers union said that Tripura Gramin Bank (TGB) is not only Tripura's own bank but it is also the sheet anchor for the people of the state in terms of dedicated banking service.
Addressing the program, minister Dey also urged to the banks of the state to help the farmers in getting loan for agricultural development. Agriculture forms the primary sector of Tripura's economy as it does in other states of northeastern region. More than 75% of the state's total workforce is still dependent on agriculture for their subsistence. In fact, about 24.3 % of the state's net area is reserved for agricultural purposes, of which about 2.5 lack hectares fall under the net cultivated area.
