KAMALPUR Jan 16 (TIWN): After the unearthing of the ransom loot and degraded works of the NEC road under Kamalpur division of PWD(R&B), the officials and contractors got irritated and scared. After the publication of the news, the bribe happy officials and staffs got busy in secret meeting. And the contractors also got instructed to stop the business of paying bribes in secrecy. All the amusements and night parties also got postponed for a week. However, it got also instructed that, no official or staff would pursue any communication with the Medias other than those who remained in close aide with the party.

For years together, the Halhali-Fatikroy and Lambucharra-Khowai NEC roads remained the happy den of bribe happy and corrupt officials of PWD(R&B) division. Almost every year lakhs of rupees got sanctioned and expensed in the name of renovation and maintenance. But each time the work could last hardly for six months. The entire road and the culverts and bridges remained matters of fear and uncertainty on the road. And it remained so as the contractors implement degraded works. The officials never found to pay visit to the site. The officials only found accepting huge bribes and amusements. The entire saga got revealed by TIWN recently. And it triggered unrest and anguish among the concerned.
After enjoying huge incomes without work, who wants that to be stopped? Now, what measure the top officials would adopt remained the matter to be seen.
