AGARTALA, Jan 6 (TIWN): One day awareness programme on Digital Signature and Public Key Infrastructure has been organized on Wednesday at Pragna Bhawan.
This is a nation-wide programme organized and conducted by Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) under the aegis of Controller of Certifying Authorities (CCA).
The main objective of this programme is to promote awareness and share knowledge about digital signatures and the Public Key Infrastructure ecosystem will all stakeholders cutting across domains and sectors, so that the benefits of the technology are realized.
During the programme, it has been mentioned that the PKI is an ecosystem comprising hardware, software, people, policies and procedures needed to create, manage, distribute, use, store, and revoke digital certificates and manage public-key encryption.
However, PKI is the basis for reliable ad trustable digital signature. It provides each user with a pair of keys, a private key and a public key used in every signed transaction.
Besides, it has been mentioned that the Controller of Certifying Authorities has been appointed by the Central Government under section 17 of the Act for purposes of the IT Act. The office of the CCA aims at promoting the growth of e-Commerce and e-Governance through the wide use of digital signatures.
On the other hand, Centre for Development of Advanced Computing in the premier R and D organization of the Department of Electronics and Information Technology, Ministry of Communications and Information Technology for carrying out R and D in IT, Electronics and Associate areas.
During the programme, IT Director Vikas Singh, Office of CCA Vikas Chourasia, IT Secretary Puneet Asarwal and others were present at the programme.
