AGARTALA, Jan 5 (TIWN): J B Sangwan has assumed the charge of Inspector General BSF, Tripura Frontier, Salbagan on 3rd January 2016.
According to the report, prior to assuming the charge of Inspector General, he was performing the duties of Principal Staff Officer of Tripura Frontier BSF since 13th June 2013.
He got promoted on January 1st, 2016 and took over the charge from Sh M F Farooqui, IPS. Sh Sangwan joined the elite Border Security Force in the year 1984 as an Assistant Commandant (Direct Entry) after completion of his masters in Geography and MPhil from Delhi School of Economics.
It’s worthy to mention here that the officer has served in almost all the frontiers of the country including militancy infested areas of Punjab, Jammu & Kashmir and Manipur. During his command tenure in militancy infested areas of Manipur from 2000 to 2002, he was awarded with Prestigious Police Medal for Gallantry (PMG).
Moreover, the officer has vast experience of serving in various staff as well as in instructional assignments at various levels including DIG Training at BSF HQ New Delhi and Instructor for various officers’ courses including Commando Course, Junior & Senior Command Courses at BSF Academy Tekanpur. The Officer is also a Black Belt in Martial Arts.
