AGARTALA, Jan 4 (TIWN): Aiming to encourage the youth to read books, Tripura Publishers Guild on Monday organized a rally and walked across the Capital.
Reportedly, the rally has begun from the ground of Umakanta Accademy on Monday.
It is to be mentioned here despite of long rows of books in the 11th Agartala Book Fair very less crowd has been observed in the fair.
It seems like due to the commencement of the academic session and board exams of the student less crowed has been witnessed.
On the other hand, it has been seen that now a day youth prefers e-books as it is easy and affordable.
Even the sale graph of books is showing ‘poor’ compared to last few years, due to less crowd of book lovers, especially the students.
It has been mentioned that with the emergence digitisation of the books or the format of e-books has lead to decrease of consumers in the book fairs.
It is to be mentioned here that the 34th annual Agartala Book Fair- 2016 has been scheduled to begin on February 13 at premises Umakanta Academy.
The fair will start from 3 pm in the afternoon and will continue till 8 pm in the evening. On the off days, the fair stalls will be opened at 2 pmin the afternoon and will continue till 8.30 pm in the evening.
Reportedly, the 12 days long fair will be continuing till 24 February 2016. Besides, it has been reported that there will be around 119 books stalls where alongwith Tripura publishers, publishers from Delhi, Kolkata, Bangladesh and elsewhere will participate.
