AGARTALA, Jan 1 (TIWN): Hepatitis Foundation of Tripura on Friday organized an awareness programme at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhawan.
The programme has been organized with a theme ‘My Tripura: Healthy Tripura ’.
During the programme it has been mentioned that around 3.6 percent of people among the total population has been affected with the disease Hepatitis and among the people residing in the interior the number of affected are more.
Hepatitis is a medical condition defined by the inflammation of the liver and characterized by the presence of inflammatory cells in the tissue of the organ.
Hepatitis may occur with limited or no symptoms, but often leads to jaundice, poor appetite, and malaise. Hepatitis is acute when it lasts less than six months and chronic when it persists longer.
Besides, at the programme the participants were informed that altogether 3 vaccines should be given for hepatitis. Detailing about the dosage it has been mentioned that the second dose should be after one month of second dosage and the third one should be after six month of first dosage.
Besides, it has been mentioned at any age this vaccine can be taken. However, after the three vaccines no booster dosage is needed.
During the programme it has been mentioned that till one year of age a child can take the vaccine in every Government Health Centre with free of cost. And the above one year child can go to any nearest Hepatitis Foundation Clinic of Government Hospital from 9 am to 1 pm.
Education Minister Tapan Chakraborty inaugurated the programme, in the presence of President of Hepatitis Foundation of Tripura Dr. Pradip Bhowmik, Senior Gatroenterologist of Peerles Hospital Kolkata, Technical Director of Hepatitis Foundation of Tripura Dr. Ajot Ranjan Choudhury and others.
