AGARTALA, Dec 30 (TIWN):The much-awaited Passport Seva Kendra would be finally opened on 31st December at 12.00 PM by Minister of External Affairs, MOS Gen (retd) VK Singh .
Union Minister of State for External Affairs VK Singh would be arriving here on December 31 to inaugurate Mini Passport Seva Kendra here. He would be accompanied by Chief Passport Officer M Kumar and Githika Srivastava, an official of Kolkata Regional Passport Centre.
To review the facilities, a four-member team of Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) headed by AK Subti visited Agartala Plaza near Jackson Gate on December 4. Sri Bhanu Lal Saha Minister Finance,Food,Civil supplies & consumers Affairs Dept will also remain present in the occasion.After visiting the office, he had said all necessary facilities have been created in the Passport Seva Kendra here.
The new Passport Seva Kendra would be opened in the later part of December or early January. Demand for setting up Passport Seva Kendra here was a long pending demand for the people of the state. Till today, people are bound to go Kolkata for getting passport but from December 31 onwards, passport could be received from the proposed Passport Seve Kendra.
