Agartala,Sep 14, (TIWN)It was indeed a long ‘due’. Over the last many decades,this region was developing a trend of its own,where fashion is concerned. This has ultimately ‘paid’.
North East Design Festival will be held for the first time in Delhi to showcase the strong history of traditional textiles and handicrafts of NE Regions.
Four-day long Festival will be organized by the North East Institute of Fashion Technology (NEIFT) where fashion shows, cultural event, musical shows would be exhibited including stalls of handloom and handicrafts of Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Tripura, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Sikkim. The event will take place at the Select City walk mall in the capital from September 19 next. Bollywood actress Minisha Lamba, Sonal Chauhan will walk the ramp as showstoppers.
“The Festival will act as a curtain raiser to showcase upcoming designers, artists, artisans, craftsmen, weavers coming from different parts of NE regions,” told event Director Vikram Rai Mehdi adding that people of the capital will also get an opportunity to interact with this wonderful talented youths which will also create a bridge of understanding as well as mutual growth of thought process between NE regions and the mainstream.
The festival would be presented by Ministry of Textiles with the support of Ministry of MSME, Ministry of Home Affairs, Handicrafts, Government of Arunachal Pradesh.
