KAMALPUR, Dec 20 ( TIWN): Halhali market remained to be one of the biggest weekly markets in the Dhalai district. The buyers and sellers from around the state assembled here on every Sunday with their products. On every Sunday lakhs of rupees got transacted in the market. But due to the lack of proper plannings and adoptation of proper steps the market suffered a lot.
The market of almost 150 years of age suffered mainly due to traffic jam. The vehicles used to strand and load-unload products on the road. And the vehicles used to stand for hours together. The cops deployed for controlling the traffic found hardly any scope to do the job.
Besides, the businessmen had started to install their stalls almost on the road. But neither the administration nor the local Panchayat seemed interested to remedy the problem.
