AGARTALA, Dec 19 (TIWN): For the first time in Tripura, The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) with the joint initiatives of Tripura Gramin Bank, United Bank of India, State Bank of India and UCO Bank organized a ‘coin fair' in front of the Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhawan.
The fair was attended by businessmen and shopkeepers from all over the capital. In recent past, the demand for coins has increased considerably. Bank employees have been under pressure with the increased demand for coins made by the customers
In a wake situation, Tripura Section of Reserve Bank of India has organized the coin fair with an aim to meet the need of the people.
To overcome the situation, the RBI has directed banks to maintain adequate availability of coins for their customers.
It is usually found that shopkeepers, instead of returning change, pay back in kind like chocolates and toffees or even matchboxes to customers. Businessmen claim the reason behind is scarcity of coins in the market.
Keeping this in mind, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) along with the Tripura Gramin Bank, United Bank of India, State Bank of India and UCO Bank has organized a coin fair in the state capital.
It has been observed that most of the time the people have to pay to the auto drivers just because the drivers do not pay the whole change. Besides, in some other place they the consumers had to satisfy with toffees, match box, and others.
