AGARTALA, Dec 7 (TIWN): With the aim to pay tribute to all the soldiers who sacrificed their lives guarding the frontiers of our country, Armed forces flag day was observed on Monday across the state.
This day is observed to salute the velour of Soldiers both serving and veterans, who fought for the unity, and integrity, and sovereignty of the country.
The ceremonial pinning of flags on VIPs and all citizens of the state along with the rest of India was seen on Monday. The financial contributions were to be collected by the department, District Administrations in honour of the flag.
The contributions provide benefits to widows, disabled soldiers, ex-servicemen and serving personnel. The total number of people who would be benefited by this fund was over a crore.
All citizens of the state along with India were proud of the valour of the brave soldiers who gave up their lives while defending the country and came forward to save the lives of people during natural calamities.
The day is observed to give the people an opportunity to express gratitude and respect towards the soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the nation.
The Armed Forces Flag Day is solemnly observed every year on 07 December. By displaying Armed Forces Flags on this day, the citizenry reinforce their solidarity with the Armed Forces for all that they do for the nation in the performance of their onerous duties. This reassures Defence Personnel that the entire nation is behind them. On this day, the community also expresses its gratitude and appreciation by contributing to the ‘Armed Forces Flag Day Fund’ to honour the brave and the martyrs for their supreme sacrifice, as well as to salute the valiant soldiers, sailors and airmen, both serving and veterans.
