AGARTALA, Dec 7 (TIWN): The campaign for the Upcoming Municipal election ended peacefully on Monday evening as per the laws and regulations slated by the election commission.
As per the order of the State electoral officials electioneering by all contesting parties concluded 48 hours prior to poll day, this also includes candidates' appealing through SMSes and tele-calling.
However, if any candidate is found campaigning during those crucial 48 hours, action would be taken for violating the code of conduct. Any means of campaign, including foot march, door to door campaign, election rally, distribution of pamphlets came to an end with the closing of the election campaign ahead of the civic poll in the state.
With the end of the campaign, the security arrangements have just geared up in the state to avoid any untoward incident just ahead of the municipal election in the state.
Regular patrolling of the security force begin in full swing to conduct free and fair election in the state.
However, the Municipal election will held on December 9 and the counting will be conducted on December 12.
State chief election commissioner told reporters here that counting of votes for 5 lakhs, 37 thousand, and 986 voters would take place onDecember 12. Among them 2 lakhs, 69 thousands and 214 are male voters and 2 lakhs, 68 thousands and 754 are female voters.
Campaign ended as per law at 4PM, 48 hours before the casting to start on December 9 and all preparation are complete for holding peaceful election. It is expected that there would be no problem to cast vote on election day- December 9 as so far there is no report of any untoward incident.
