KAMALPUR, Dec 7 (TIWN): The PWD(R&B), Kamalpur division is now busy in attempts to suppress a huge embezzlement already revealed by CAG report. And with such intention the division not provided information sought through RTI more than a month ago.

In the CAG Report 1 of 2015 of Government of Tripura, CAG revealed that, PWD(R&B) conducted a duplicate, avoidable and doubtful expenditure of 8, 59, 00, 000 rupees for construction of Kamalpur-Maracherra-Ambassa road in 2008-09 fiscal.

CAG declared, “Taking up/execution of the up gradation work of “Kamalpur-Maracherra-Ambassa road” by the Public Works Department (Roads & Bridges) from 10. 00 Km to 27.50 Km under PNGSY at the cost of 8.59 crore immediately after completion of the same work under HUDCO Loan Assistance Scheme in March/April 2008 was not only duplication and unavoidable but also doubtful.”

In this connection, a citizen applied to have the information and statement of the division about the work through RTI on 4^th November last.

Still, the division neither provided the information nor acknowledged the receipt of the application. It got speculated that, the division wanted to suppress the entire embezzlement by not replying the queries. The applicant now thought to knock the State Commission in this regard shortly.
