NEW DELHI / AGARTALA, Dec 2 (TIWN):Nirmala Seetahraman, the Minister of State , Ministry of Commerce and Industry assured that the Rubber Board will be reconstituted and made functional immediately. The Minister told this to the delegation in the leadership of Jitendra Choudhury MP Lok Sabha from Tripura and P Krishnaprasad Convenor of the All India Small and Marginal Rubber Growers Coordination Committee at New Delhi.
The Minister also said the government will positively consider the suggestion to assist social cooperatives of rubber growers to set up large scale modern rubber processing industries. The delegation pointed out that such initiatives will help the farmers to arrest distress sale during the period of price crash.
Regarding the major demands of MSP, price stabilization fund, enhancing subsidy to growers etc the Minister said a meeting of all farmers organizations will be called to discuss and find amicable solutions to assist the peasantry facing acute crisis.
Praksan master Ex MLA from Kerala, R Ravi from Tamil Nadu and Haridas Bhat from Karnataka also was in the delegation.
A memorandum has been submitted to the Minister and Secretary to Commerce and Industries.
