KAMALPUR, Dec 2 (TIWN): The long-drawn saga of Apareshkar village council regarding the detaching of its three non-tribal dominated wards demanded by the locales took an interesting turn after a notification issued by Panchayat Raj department. A non-tribal dominated and long unreserved ward reserved for ST and the locals are all set for filing a writ with the HC in this regard.
For a considerable period of time, the people of three wards of Apareshkar VC namely Rambashipara (ward-3), Rammanikpara (ward-4) and Ramsadhupara (ward-5) demanding to get sacked from the village council area as almost 70 % of the population in those wards remained non-tribals. They also knocked the authorities for this. But still the matter remained unresolved as the Panchayat Raj authorities failed to show any definite law about the population criterion for forming the VC areas in the state. And adding more to the problem, the Director of Panchayat Raj department issued a notification announcing the reservation of non-tribal dominated Rambashipara reserved for ST in the next election. The SDM informed the matter to the villagers on 16/11/2015. The villagers accordingly filed a complaint with the SDM on 23rd November last within the stipulated period of seven days. Then the SDM issued them a notice numbered F.12 (88)/SDM/KMP/VC/2015/1431-33 on 26th December last for appearing in the hearing on 4th December next.
The villagers expressed that; they would even file a writ with the High Court if the matter not resolved in the hearing.
