UDAIPUR, Nov 28 (TIWN): With a joint initiative of Tripura State Rifle and Udaipur Police personnel on Saturday staged an eviction drive at the Matabari Area.
During the eviction drive around 23 roadside shops were evicted. According to authority, despite several prior notices, the shopkeepers continued to sell products on roadsides by capturing footpaths illegally.
Earlier, many such eviction drives were conducted in the same area. But paying no attention, the shop owners had been continuing to sell products on roadsides illegally.
Further according to the hawkers, earlier on another drive they had shifted their shops and left area for the double lane road but when the authority ordered for another drive, resentment brews.
The eviction drive was carried out in the both road sides at the Matabari area.
Reacting over the eviction, the shopkeepers said that for prolonged many years they were doing their business but with the sudden eviction it has hit their stomach.
An official said several eviction notices was issued to the illegal occupants but they were reluctant to follow the order. Having no other option the authority had to forcefully evict the hawkers.
However, resentment brews among the locals saying that now where they will go to continue their business. They further said that even they were not paid for the eviction.
