AGARTALA, Nov 25 (TIWN): With just counting days left for the civic poll which is slated to be held on December 9, opposition candidates are enthusiastically doing door to with the aim to completely swift in the civic polls this year.
Besides, BJP candidate Roopa Rai Majumder (Ward no. 7) on Wednesday kick-started its campaign with door to door campaign for the forthcoming Municipal elections. The candidate was also supported by BJP President Sudhindra Dasgupta.
On the other hand, during Pradesh Congress Committee Candidates Panna Deb campaign he is supported by Opposition Leader Sudip Roy Barman.
The leaders claimed to serve the interests of the common people, fight communalism and pursue an independent foreign policy. It is for the people to determine what shape the alternative government is to take, urged the leaders while participating in the door to door campaign.
State chief election commissioner told reporters here that counting of votes for 5 lakhs, 37 thousand, and 986 voters would take place onDecember 12. Among them 2 lakhs, 69 thousands and 214 are male voters and 2 lakhs, 68 thousands and 754 are female voters.
The final photo voter lists for the ensuing Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC), 13 Municipal Councils and 6 Nagar Panchayats is announced by state election department. Besides, the names of SDM and BDOs appointed for one zilla parishad seat, one panchayat samiti seat and 25 wards of gram panchayat is also announced.
However, the Municipal election will held on December 9 and the counting will be conducted on December 12.
