KAMALPUR, Nov 20 (TIWN): The 119th edition of traditional and the biggest of its kind in the northeast, the Maharas Jatra Utsav and Fair all set to begin from 22nd November next at Baralutma in the sub-division. In the four days’ celebration the fair would be inaugurated by MP Shankar Prasad Dutta on 22nd November and the Utsav would be inaugurated on 25th by the RD Minister Naresh Jamatia. Regarding the celebration all preparations got set from the part of the organizers. The organizers briefed the media about their preparations in a press meet at Kamalpur Press Club on Friday.
For smooth running of the proceedings a 68 member preparatory committee got formed. Prasenjit Sinha held the chair of Secretary this year too. The committee prepared a budget of 7, 50, 000 rupees. 15 departments consented to open stalls. Besides, 200 private businessmen were hoped to assemble with their items. This year folk dance and folk culture got selected as theme of the cultural function. Four prominent teams would appear from Assam, Mizoram, Manipur and Meghalaya along with teams from Bangladesh. Gaiety land and circus would also provide amusement.
The committee sought help from all the concerned to make it a grand success.
