KAMALPUR, Nov 19 (TIWN): The CPI-M leaders and Ministers often claimed themselves to be the truest friend of people as well as the savior of the poor and downtrodden. It got also preached that, the leaders of CPI-M resembled the best example of honesty and sacrifice. But, on the contrary, numerous such incidents got revealed in which those leaders gobbled the public money and cheated the commoners. In such an incident an Upa-pradhan (Asstt. Village Headman) cheated a youth an amount of 1, 00, 000 rupees in the name of a Swabalamban loan of 3, 00, 000 rupees. And when the cheated youth demanded back his money the Upa-pradhan and his family members bet the youth mercilessly and spread the story of their being beaten by that youth.
The incident happened at Nandakishore para of Bamanchara panchayat. According to the allegation, the Upa-pradhan Pabitra Namasudra promised one Kiran Namasudra of the same locality to manage a Swabalamban loan of 3, 00, 000 rupees one year ago. For this he demanded 1, 00, 000 rupees from Kiran. Kiran’s mother Malati Namasudra was an employee of Social Education department and after her retirement Kiran gave Pabitra the amount almost a year ago.
But Pabitra failed to manage him a loan and also not returned the money. After several requests Pabitra told Kiran to go to his house to bring the money last evening. When he went there Pabitra along with his father Haridhan and brothers Ranjan, Nirmal and Tapas bet Kiran mercilessly. Kiran somehow took shelter in the house of neighbor Nakul Namasudra and became senseless. Police got informed recovered Kiran and restored him to the BSM Hospital. He needed 10 stitches in his head. Meanwhile, Pabitra made out a cock and bull story that Kiran bet him and rushed to Agartala. However, how the party leader looked into the matter remained the question.
