AGARTALA, Nov 3 (TIWN): Ahead of any election chief minister Manik Sarkar and his council of minister gets busy in inauguration of government buildings, roads, bridges, market sheds etc. The same is repeated again in the ensuing election of Agartala Municipal Corporation, Municipal Councils and Nagar Panchayats. The main objective is to woo the voters of urban areas. All these programmes can be done any time but it is noticed that all inauguration and foundation stone laying ceremony programmes dramatically increases ahead of any elections. In spite of busy schedule, Sarkar have inaugurated the new office building of Mohanpur SDM. The office building was of inferior quality and there are report irregularities in constructing it. State’s most corrupted RD department constructed the building. From the beginning there was allegation of irregularities in construction. Even chief engineer of RD suggested to dismantle the building. But the government due to the election overruled the suggestion and made Sarkar to inaugurate the building. In his address he did not utter a single word on rampant corruption in the state. Instead he gave lectures on work culture for government officials and employees. It is common lectures of Sarkar which the people of the state are familiar with.
Sarkar also told them to come in office on time, not to keep any work pending if required they should work half an hour more then the schedule time.
Work culture in the state’s government office many years back have set in the horizon. The office,s have become CPI(M) party office. The employees are more interested in party work then serving the people. It does not mean the chief minister Sarkar is not aware about it, he is very much aware about it. He gives lecture because voters needed to be influenced. There is not a single department which is out corruption cancer. But Sarkar no time to deal it with iron fist, he is more comfortable in giving lectures.
