AGARTALA, Nov 2 (TIWN): Ten-day long Drama festival staged the play ‘Kerengor Ligiree’ by Guwahati-based Abhinaya group, directed by Rajesh Bhuyan on Monday at 'Nazrul Kala Kshetra' auditorium.
It is to be mentioned here that the ten-day long northeast drama festival, organised by the National School of Drama (NSD) was inaugurated by Chef Minister Manik Sarkar on November 1 at 'Nazrul Kala Kshetra' auditorium.
Among the ten dramas to be staged in the ten days of duration, six are from Assam, three from Manipur and only one from Tripura.
On the opening day, ‘Prof Kelfa's factory’ directed by Ranchang Chowdhury under the banner of Mancha Sarupeta, Assam has been staged.
On the second day, the Guwahati-based Abhinaya group staged ‘Karengor Ligiree', directed by Rajesh Bhuyan.
Manipur's Kalakshetra group will stage Samnadraba Mami, a multi-lingual drama directed by H. Tomba on November 3. On November 4, ‘Rhythm of the Valley’ will be staged under the banner of Badungduppa, Assam, directed by Sukracharjiya Rabha.
Another multi-lingual drama, ‘Imaan Imaan Paani’ will be staged by Guwahati-based Bhaxa Xahityo Xonmiloni and directed by Mrinal Jyoti Goswami on November 5.
‘Ami Madhabi’, directed by Sanjay Kar will be staged by Nityabhumi, Agartala group on November 6. The Imphal base Nt Theare will stage ‘Mangshat (Vendetta)’ directed by Ningthouja Deepak on November 7.
On November 8, ‘Apeksha’ will be staged by Seagull group, directed by Baharul Islam. Apart from this, Pan Manipuri Theatre from Imphal will stage Dreams from My Room on the penultimate day. This Manipuri play will be directed by Chingtham Banikana Singh.
However, ‘Basavdutta’ will be staged on November 10. It will be staged by Purbaranga, Assam, directed by Seujpriya Barthakur Goswami.
National School of Drama was set up by the Sangeet Natak Akademi as one of its constituent units in 1959.
In 1975, it became an independent entity and was registered as an autonomous organization under the Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860, fully financed by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India.
