AGARTALA, Nov 2 (TIWN): ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Tripura Centre has launched a ten days short course on ‘integrated farming system approaches for sustainable hill agriculture under changing climatic scenario’ for the researchers and extension functionaries working in ICAR Institutes/ CAUs/ KVKs/ SAUs and line departments.
The course is organised with an aim of acquainting them for formulating adaptation and mitigation strategies for sustaining the production of crops and animals under climate change.
The course is sponsored by the National Innovation on Climate Resilient Agriculture (NICRA). The programme is initiated with inaugural function on 28th October, 2015 at ICAR, Lembucherra.
All together 26 participants are there in the level of Scientist, Asst. Prof., Subject Matter Specialist, Agriculture Officer, Veterinary Officer, Fishery Officer and Research Associates from various corners of North East.
Talking to TIWN correspondent, Dr. M. Datta, Joint Director (ICAR) said that it is a great initiative; in subsequent days of training it will surely help our participants to formulate adaptation and mitigation strategies for managing emerging environmental problems in agriculture and allied farming due to climate change. Dr. M. Datta, also stressed the need of integrated farming for securing the livelihood of rural farmers and also narrated the narrated the issues of climate change in hill agriculture and animal farming and its possible management through integration.
