AGARTALA, Oct 17 (TIWN): Ruling CPI(M) have done their home work to regain power in the ensuing Agartala Municipal Corporation election schedule to held in mid – December next. Due to disintegrated opposition parties, the ruling party is using the administration at ease to work in their favour. As a result they have completed the delimitation work and related works violating the existing municipal act. By this they have made the opposition defunct and gave no importance of objections raised by common men. Serious resentment is brewing among them, some are even planning to knock the door of court.
Informed sources said a resident of AMC - ward 11 is planning to file a PIL. After interacting with section of people there was ample scope of taking legal action against the illegal delimitation work undertaken by the state government. But no opposition party moved in that direction. Many tried to get information by RTI, but the concerned authority willingly delayed in giving information. According to some councilors no guidelines was followed while implementing the delimitation process. The elected councilors were kept in dark in this regard.
Before delimitation no all party meeting was convened, the opposition councilor claim that everything was done in undemocratic way from – drafting of polling station and voter lists etc. The voters of Ambedkar school in ward no 11 now have to give vote at Upendra Vidyabhawan. Besides voters same family have to give vote at different wards. By this the municipal Act ( 1994) was violated. During clams and objection number of suggestion was given but DM and SDM here did may any heed to their suggestion.
