Agartala, Oct 5 (TIWN): With the Durga puja barely fortnight away,a foolproof security has been prepared for peaceful celebrations of the biggest festival of the state. Giving details on the foolproof security, Superintendent of Police (SP), West Bijoy Kumar Nag talking to TIWN on Sunday said around 2000 security personnel including jawans of Tripura State Rifles (TSR) would be mobilized to maintain law and order during the puja days.
Altogether 50 CCTV cameras would be installed in the strategic locations of the city while as many as 20 police assistance booths would be set up to keep surveillance on the situation, he said. According to the SP, as many as 25 watch towers would be established to keep close surveillance to avoid any untoward incident during the puja days. Besides, Dog Squads and Bomb Disposal Squads would be kept ready to meet any eventuality.
As part of tight security, four drop gates would be activated to keep the anti social elements at bay. Surprise checking on vehicles, hotel and other key locations would be conducted soon in the capita town which will host maximum puja mandaps this time too. “Though there is no specific threat centering the puja, we are determined to ensure foolproof security during the puja days. There will no dearth of police personnel during the festival time”, he said. West district likely to host around 7 38 Durga puja this time which is almost same what it was in the last year. And Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) will host more 355 pujas. To avoid untoward incident, the puja authority has already prepared a guideline for immersion at Dashmighat.
Regarding issuing of vehicle pass during puja traffic department was told to be cautious this time. Only passes should be issued to those who actually need the passes, SP said. It is mentionable here that unnecessary vehicles passes are issued by traffic department causing a major problem in the capital town.
