AGARTALA, Oct 4 (TIWN): The local people of Khumlung, although many times urged the dept. to renovate the 3 km road over there, but PWD didn’t take any initiative to renovate the road since many years. Surprisingly, as soon as with CM’s schedule visit at there has been announced, the dept has started the road-maintenance work with full enthusiasm.

It’s to be mentioned here that although the road from Madhabh Bari to Belbari has been left in deplorable condition since more than years, instead of the public pressure; but with Tripura CM’s visit at Khumlung in the coming days, dept. has started to work on it and presently the work is going in full swing.

Before few days also, with the visit of the Governor, the road  was renovated little. So it’s visible that whenever any high profile person arrives there, officials start the renovation work.

With this, allegations are also coming against the PWD dept. for negligence of work during the whole year at Khumlung.

CM Manik Sarkar visited Khumlung visited on Saturday and PWD did road filling on temporary basis, alleged locals.

Locals also alleged that in the name of road-maintenance a section of people looting the public funds during the whole year and whenever emergency comes the roads are anyhow “managed” to show off, but the deplorable condition of roads continues over the year and during the rainy season it goes worse.
