KAILASAHAR, Oct 2 (TIWN): Kailasahar police on Friday arrested a couple with huge amount of golden ornaments and cash of Rs85, 000.
The accused are identified as Ashis Das and Parbati Das.
The incident took place on September 3 when the accused Ashis Das and Parbati Das had stolen a huge amount of golden ornaments and cash of Rs.85, 000 from the house of biswajit Sinha and Lili Sinha of Govindapur.
However, kailashar police station OC Subrata Chakraborty said that on September 3 the accused couple had stolen the golden ornaments and cash from the house of biswajit Sinha and Lili Sinha of Govindapur and ran away to Kolkata through Guwahati and again returned back top kumarghat through Guwahati within 2 days.
However, later they took a house on rent and started to reside there.
Failing to get expose with the stolen ornaments, the husband and wife decided to sell the golden ornaments in a jewelry shop. Suspicion grew in the mind of the owner of the jewelry shop when the couple failed to answer the question of the shop owner.
Smelling something tricky, the owner informed the police.
However, after investigation it was revealed that the ornaments are the stolen goods.
The accused were produced before the court on Friday and police is further investigating the case.
