AGARTALA, Oct 2 (TIWN):The High Court of Tripura in a judgment order on Wednesday cancelled the illegal appointment of Dr. Arun Ghosh at Agartala Government Medical College. The case was filed by Dr. Tapan Majumder, pediatrician stating that the appointment was illegal, it was possible as Dr. Ghosh is very close relative of Chief Minister Manik Sarkar.
Chief Justice Deepak Gupta in judgment order criticized the state government for not having a uniform recruitment policy. Reports says AGMC issued notification for recruitment of assistant professor in pediatriciatic department. Later it was cancelled.
Whereas in 2005 for the same post notification was issued from applicants, upper age limit was 50 years. As per the notification Dr. Tapan Mazumder was appointed for the post. But Dr. Arun Ghosh appealed in the Guwahati High Court of Agartala Bench demanding appointment for the post.
Being a close relative of chief minister it is alleged that he tried to influence the judiciary. But the judgement order was against Dr. Ghosh rejecting his appeal. In 2008, he was given appointment by the state government.
But he was given appointment illegal even after he crossed 50 years with effect from 2005. As a result for making national fixation Dr. Ghosh age superseded the age of Dr. Mazumder. This forced him to file a case in the High Court.
In judgment order chief justice criticized for reversing the court order by the administration of state government. Besides cancelling the appointment, the government was fined Rs 20 lakh by high court.
