AGARTALA, Sept 28 (TIWN): After Bisalgarh and Sonamura the smugglers have now opted for an alternative road through Sadar (North) to carry out their smuggling racket of contraband goods.
Due to the expansion of wire fences work in most of the parts of the border area of Bisalrgarh and sonamura sub-division the smuggling racket of contraband goods has shifted to Sadar (North) area .
Although robbery, theft case have declined but the illegal intrusion of smugglers and smuggling is on a rise across the Indo-Bangla border at Sadar (North).
Smuggling of Phensedyl a cough syrup, with an exceedingly high dose of codeine and other contraband items are increasing day by day in the state. A section of people alleged that due to the under table connection between police and smugglers the police are not doing anything to stop the smuggling of Phensedyl and contraband items.
With the expansion of the border fencing work at Bisalgarh and Sonamura, the security measures has also increased which has put a stop to the smuggling business through these areas and has shifted to Sadar (North).
Due to the deep hand in the smuggling business between the police and BSF every day contraband items worth lakhs and lakhs of rupees are being intruded to Bangladesh as it brings huge income.
Illegal intrusion of the extremist, smuggling of contraband items and cattle’s across Tripura to Bangladesh and vice-versa has become an everyday-issue. Despite the wire fencing across the border smuggling is on a crest for transporting the prohibited goods.
