AGARTALA, September 25 (TIWN): Along with the world, the State is also celebrating Eid al-Adha on Friday. Muslims all across the state on Friday visited the Masjids and offered prayers.
The well-known Masjids like Gedumiya Masjid, Chandrapur, Indranagar Masjid, Masjid of Ramnagar 4, Abhoynagar were full of devotees who visited there to offer prayers.
The day is also known as the Feast of the Sacrifice or the Greater Eid, is distinct from Eid-al-Fitr, which was celebrated in July.
Muslims around the world will be celebrating Eid al-Adha, one of the two most important festivals in the Muslim calendar later this month.
Many Muslims make a special effort to pray and listen to a sermon at a mosque and may symbolically sacrifice an animal in an act known as qurbani. This represents the animal that Ibrahim sacrificed in the
place of his son.
On this auspicious occasion, they also wear new clothes, visits their family members and friends. Girls and women put mehendi on their hand on the occasion of the Eid al-Adha.
Eid al-Adha, or the 'Feast of Sacrifice', is a Muslim festival celebrated across the globe, marking the willingness of Abraham to offer up his son to Allah.
While many Muslims mark the occasion by visiting Mecca, a pilgrimage known as 'Haaj', those unable to make the trip mark the feast in their homelands.
