AGARTALA, September 19 (TIWN): A District Level Orientation workshop has been organized on Saturday with the urban local bodies under National Urban Health Mission at Pragna Bhawan.
The programme has been organized by the District Health and Family Welfare Society, West Tripura.
Aiming to provide guidance on conducting healthy and fruitful health camp, the workshop was held with the counsellor at Pragna Bhawan.
The programme was inaugurated by the Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation Dr. Prafullajit Sinha in the presence of Mayor Counsellor Shaymal Dey, Deputy Mayor Samar Chakraborty and others.
Speaking at the programme, Mayor Dr. Prafullajit Sinha said that people should take advantage of the special health camps conducted by the State Government for early diagnosis and treatment of diseases.
He further urged to focus on the poor family member who cannot afford better health treatment. He also asked to provide them free medicine.
The National Urban Health Mission (NUHM) as a sub-mission of National Health Mission (NHM) has been approved by the Cabinet on 1st May 2013.
NUHM envisages to meet health care needs of the urban population with the focus on urban poor, by making available to them essential primary health care services and reducing their out of pocket expenses for treatment.
