AGARTALA Sept 17 (TIWN): The state of Tripura always register high rate of mortality due to malaria. This year approximately about 18000 peoples are positive with malaria. There are also 14 cases where people have died out of malaria. The malaria breakout mainly occurs in the hilly regions of Tripura. But least work is done to provide improved health service to the peoples living in the hilly regions of Tripura.
Data released last week by the National Vector Borne Diseases Control Program (NVBDCP) shows the state govt has used just Rs 1.6 cr out of the more than 11.6 cr available to the state for battling the disease. Where is the rest of the money? No one knows.
Last year the numbers of the malaria affected case increase to 51000 persons. This year only 8months have passed by but the cases of malaria have risen above 18000 persons and the state govt have used only 13 percent of the fund for prevention and cure of malaria.
