AGARTALA, September 16 (TIWN): Aiming to ease the commuters and to check the serious fuel crisis in Tripura, the government had finally planned to have a giant oil reservoir in Agartala Shekerkut area, said Food and Civil Supplies Minister Bhanulal Saha on Tuesday. He said that the consultants were engaged to get the ground works completed soon prior to the construction work of the reservoir.
Talking to the reporters here at the civil secretariat Saha said that the departmental team had already visited some sites at Agartala Shekerkut area in view of getting the construction work of the reservoir which would giant in shape.
He also said that the main objective of getting the reservoir, the first of its kind in Tripura is to check and restrict the serious fuel crisis which often causes heavy suffering to the common people of the state.
Once the reservoir is being erected than the state is expected to go for no more fuel crisis even if the oil tankers do not reach the time for the unavoidable reasons because huge amount of oil can be buffer stocked in the reservoir, said Saha.
It is to be mentioned here that currently the state is reeling under heavy fuel crisis though some oil tankers managed to arrive in the state despite serious tension prevails at Churaibari Check post due to the agitation being staged by the lorry drivers in demand of getting the Assam-Agartala national highway road improved soon.
