Agartala, Sept 15 (TIWN): Central university officials of the state are reportedly not co – operating with visiting National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) team. Even the visit of NAAC was not mentioned in the website of the university. The team will stay here till September 18 and inquire about all kinds’ development works undertaken in last financial year. After the visit of the team grade – A, B or C will be given to the university.
It is alleged that the faculty members, non faculty members and students are not allowed to interact with NAAC team. University authorities fear all kind illegal activities will be made known to the visiting team. Some handpicked employees close to higher authority of the university will be allowed to interact.
They are trying to cover all kind illegal activities including alleged financial anomalies going on in the university. If the irregularities are unearthed by NAAC than UGC and Ministry of HRD will think seriously in sanctioning funds near futures.
According to guidelines its mandatory university vice chancellor, registrar and other senior officials stays in the university campus. But none is staying in the campus. They are planning to hide this issue from NACC.
The team wants to know the quality of education imparted to the students. As maximum department are plagued with lots of problems. Lack of infrastructures, irregularities in admission of students and shortage of books in the library. Some distance education courses are on the verge of closing down.
The problems of scholars in the university are more critical. It takes eight years for completion Phd degree for not getting registered within the scheduled time.The hostels of students are in bad condition no steps are taken to renovate the hostels.
