AGARTALA, Sept 15 (TIWN): With the suspension of 52 auto rickshaws for 3 months, passenger got a little relief. Reportedly, on Monday none of the auto drivers had demanded extra fare from passengers; and point to point fare had been well-maintained in capital city Agartala.
Reportedly, although govt. declared point to point auto fair but the drivers were taking extra fairs.
Maximum auto drivers belong to CITU, which is CPI-M backed association, and with that power they were looted money from the passengers.
However, in last 1 month many complaints had been given to the dept. against the drivers by common people and accordingly dept. at last was bound to take steps against in total 52 drivers and for 3 months they are suspended. They will not be allowed to drive at least 3 months on road.
Their driving licenses also have been seized for 3 months. In any route they will not be permitted to drive.
However, with this step taken by dept. all the auto drivers have turned into gentle and maintaining point to point fare very well from Monday. Hence the common people’s voice seem have worked.
Joint Transport Commissioner had announced that anybody can complain against the auto drivers, with the vehicle numbers, at his office (Phone Numb: 0381-2324601). However, anybody can make a complaint via phone or going to the office but the name of the passengers (complainers) will be hidden, said official.
