AGARTALA, September 15 (TIWN): Just after the Left backed Students’ unions prepared to hit the Tripura capital on Tuesday protesting the new education policy of the centre, the Union Minister for Human Resource Development (HRD) Minister Smriti Irani had made her schedule to make a maiden visit to northeastern states of Tripura on September 17 to hold a meeting with the North East states’ education ministers and secretaries on centre’s new education policy.
The meeting would be held on September 18 at Agartala Pragna Bhawan, said state education secretary Samarjit Bhowmik on Monday at the civil secretariat.
Bhowmik said that the main objective of the meeting is to discuss the structuring of new education policy of the centre and this would be the first meeting to be chaired by Irani. All the ministers of education of all the northeastern states would remain present in the meeting called to be held at Tripura capital, Bhowmik said.
However, the move has come up just to structure the new national education policy and get the states under its coverage. It is to be mentioned here that centre had earlier sought the states’ response in regard of getting conceptualise the policy.
