AGARTALA, September 7 (TIWN): A workshop on Neem as bio-fertilizer for sustainable environment has been organized on Monday at Agartala Press Club. The programme was organized by Directorate of Biotechnology, Government of Tripura, in collaboration with Institute of Pesticide Formulation Technology.
The Directorate of biotechnology department has recently under taken Neem based research project as bio-pesticides and bio-fertilizers to find out the bio-efficiency of Neem in combination with Synergist on Chilli mites.
It has been mentioned that the Neem is the most valuable element of the world. The neem products are very popular among the mass. It can be used as by the human during illness. It is also useful to cure many diseases of animals. Even it is helpful for the Agriculture sector as a bio-fertilizer and bio-pesticides, also as tooth paste, organic oil and many others.
During the programme, discussions were done to bring lands under the Neem plantation and to plant neem sapling as a part of programme.
It has been mentioned that currently Rs. 100 crores of marketing were done every year.
Besides, a power point presentation was presented by head of Office of Biotechnology Department Anjan Sengupta and discussions were done of the benefits from neem products during the programme.
The programme was inaugurated by Science, Technology and Environment Minister Bijita Nath in the presence of Director of Directorate of Biotechnology, Secretary of Science Technology and Environment S. Kumar and others.
