AGARTALA, August 28 (TIWN): Pointing put that the insurgent activities still persist in the northeastern region of the country, Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar had urged the centre to generate employment and placements through the newly launched National Skill Development Mission programme towards curbing terrorism.
After returning from the meeting of NITI Aayog sub-group of chief ministers on skill development held at Delhi Sarkar said that the centre’s flagship programme should not only focus on skill development of the people of the country but also should generate employment in the states including the NE region.
Sarkar said, “Unemployment is the only cause of the 4 to 5 decades old terrorism in the region.”
He said skill development must be clubbed with education, agricultural, and industrialisation policies. Adding to that Sarkar also said that as ultimately the states would need to implement the programme sufficient fund is required for it.
The final meeting of the sub-group of chief ministers on skill development, held at NITI Aayog on Tuesday, was presided over by the convenor of the sub-group and Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal.
