AGARTALA, August 28 (TIWN): Social Welfare and Social Education Department where presents several reports of cemented house, newly built house for Anganwadi centres and various initiatives taken for the centres, the Anganwadi centre at Khashgau area of East Durgapur at Kailashahar built 20years ago running under pathetic condition due to negligence of the authority.
This Anganwadi centre has been mainly built to provide education to the minority students.
Expressing regret over the condition of the centre, locals said that 20years ago the centre was built with Bamboo and tin and even today the centre is running under the same construction.
They further complaint that as the centre is placed a low area, the rain water gets store and make the floor damp. The students had to continue their class in the damp floor itself as they do not have any other option.
According to the reports, the total number of student registered under this Centre is 100 and the attendance is also good.
According to the locals, though the state government has been taking initiatives for several Anganwadi centres in the state yet they allegedly ignored this centre as the children of minority families are studying over there.
They further said that under Kailashahar Municipal Council, ward no. 15 there are three Anganwadi centres and news rooms were built with Kitchen but the 20-year old centre does not even have a kitchen room. The cook has to prepare food in the same room where the students are studying.
However, the locals demanded to the Local member Bijoy Sinha asking to renovate the centre but no initiatives have been taken yet.
Six months earlier the locals locked the door of the centre, when Local CPI-M leader assured to take fruitful initiative to repair but till day nothing happened.
However, they said that CDPO Vidya Sagar Debbarma visited the centre for several time but till day no output.
