AGARTALA, August 25 (TIWN): To boost up the export and import of power by the northeastern region with main land of the country the Tripura government had demanded for early completion of 800 KV HVDC from Agra to Biswanath Chariala. The demand has come up during the recently concluded meeting at Guwahati being attended by the state power minister Manik Dey.
Since this line is being constructed as national asset for the benefit of all across the country, capital grant may be provided from Power System Development Fund (PSDF) so that tariff burden can be reduced, said Dey.
Besides to facilitate reliable power evacuation through 400 KV Double Circuit Line from OTPC Palatana Power Project to Silchar via Purba Kanchanbari and another 400 KV sub-station at Surjamaninagar and Purbakanchanbari is required, he said.
Dey said that the construction of the proposed 400 KV line and the sub-station through competitive bidding should be expedited for ensuring stable power evacuation from Palatana at the earliest.
“Early commissioning of second ICT at Palatana from enhanced drawl at 132 KV system before commencement of radial power supply to Bangladesh is also needed,” adding Dey urged the OTPC authority to take necessary steps towards expediting the process.
On being asked about the current status of the ongoing works on dispatching power to Bangladesh, Dey told reporters that the authorities are actively engaged to the work and the agreement with the Bangladesh is still in discussion stage.
