KAILASHAHAR, August 25 (TIWN): Tripura State Rubber Production Association on Tuesday staged two hours Mass Demonstration demanding that the state government should charge tax of Rs. 50 per Kilogram of imported rubber.
Criticizing the Indo-Asia Mukta Banijya Chukti, they said that due to this agreement the rubber farmers are financially getting hamper. They complained that due to this agreement the lost of the rubber has declined drastically.
Demanding the state Government they said that the Rubber board should provide necessary fertilizers to the farmers. Besides, every district should have a regional office of Rubber Board demanded the Association.
However, the Central Government should take initiatives to install small scale industries in the state for the benefits of the poor rubber farmers.
According to the Association, the rate of latex has fallen abnormally from Rs. 240 to Rs. 90 per Kg, with which the poor farmers cannot meet up the plantation nut rating, production and marketing cost of rubber.
Sudden fall of rate of latex rubber or rubber sheets are affecting the individual rubber growers in particular and collapsing the rural economy of Tripura in general.
However, they further demanded that the Central Government should end the import and production of synthetic rubber. They also demanded to comprise a common rate of latex/rubber sheets as Rs. 200 per Kg for the benefit of farmers.
