AGARTALA, August 22(TIWN): Over past many days families residing along with Howrah River at Pratapgarh opposite to Ramthakur girl’s school are spending days in wilderness. Incessant rain over past one week has raised the water level of River Howrah and accordingly the current of the river water has also increased. With the rising current of the river water the embankment of the river has collapsed generating panic among the people residing in the houses.
With the passing days anger is fuming among the people with the negligence of the authority failing to renovate the embankment of the river.
Years pass by and what remains along with them is just a hope of assurance. Anil Saha a resident of the area alleged that they have reported the issue to the ward office but so far no action is taken.
He further said that newly elected MLA Ramu Das have visited the spot twice and since what all the resident got is false hope.
The people are spending days in wilderness. Every minute they fear when they fear when the river water will wash away their house.
The embankment of the river is already broken and the houses are simply attached to mud in a critical condition and at any moment any accident can take place.
Even after several plea top the authorities no one is bothered to look in to the matter and extend a helping hand to these families.
