BELONIA, August 21 (TIWN): Different parts of South Tripura remained critical due to excessive rain. Households are found reeling under the water of the swollen Muhuri River and its tributaries affecting over 55 families.
Heavy rainfall in the areas of neighboring Belonia has caused river Muhuri to rise and inundate fresh areas in the worst-hit South district, official sources said.
Over five villages were flooded in the district affecting people as flood waters had either entered their homes or damaged them.Most of the roads were damaged or affected, while several others either partially or fully submerged, the sources said, adding, many road embankments had been eroded and approaches of bridge and culverts washed away by the flood water.
Floods have damaged six roads, one bridge, three culverts. BC Nagar Block ,Rupaichari Block area under water particularly Amajadnagar ,Manu Bankul area is under water. District Administration is also monitoring the current situation.MLA Pravat Chourdhury ,MDC Arun Tripura visited the flood effected area today.
