Teliamura, Aug 20 (TIWN): Acting on a tip-off raid, Teliamura police officials ceased huge amount of contraband goods from different areas under Teliamura Sub Division today. SDPO Teliamura along with his police personnel ceased contraband items worth Rs.260534.
Based on confidential information, a raid was conducted in the different parts of Teliamura under Teliamura police station. During the search, troops recovered bottles of Phensidyle and Corex and drug tablets. However, noone is arrested in this connection.
After ending this successful raid, SDPO furiously expressed that the entire Sub Division is floating with various contraband items. A section of youths and school going students are bitterly addicted to these narcotic items. With an effort to prevent the drug addiction, the administration will keep continuing anti-drug raids in different corners of the Sub Division, he added. Smuggling of Phensedyl a cough syrup with an exceedingly high dose of codeine, high dose of painkillers with drugs and other contraband items are increasing day by day in the state.
The police, administration and BSF are doing their best to stop smuggling of these contraband items. But they are unable stop the smuggling of contraband items as the smuggler gangs are hand in glove with officials and ruling CPM party, said a highly placed police source.
Even though Tripura\'s Police force and intelligence network is fully capable of tackling this statewide drug menace but evil nexus of political powers (CPI-M), mafia and civil administration are keeping police force as mute spectators. However, police couldn’t arrest anyone in this regard as the persons involved in this crime flew away from the spot with the arrival of police in the area. Additional Telimura police further said that to maintain the peace and tranquility of the Sub Division police will continue with conducting such anti-drug raids in the area for curbing the smuggling of contraband goods
