AGARTALA, August 19 (TIWN): After passing 2 years of Tripura University without a chancellor, time has come to select new Chancellor for it. 7 persons’ names are listed as the probable candiadates for the next Chancellor of Tripura University, amongst whom Ratan Tata’s name is on the top.
According to the reports, on July 30st and 31st meetings had been taken place between the higher officials of Tripura University and in that meet including Ratan Tata in total 7 person’s names had been recommended.
It’s to be mentioned here that the name of Ratan Tata is on the top among all of them. So possibility is high that Ratan Tata may be the next Chancellor of Tripura University.
However, criticism is going against this decision of Tripura University.
Presently the post is empty and this situation is carrying since last 2 years.
After the University had been recommended as central University, Prof. Amiya Kr. Bagchi had joined as the Chancellor of Tripura University. But after Bagchi nobody filled that post, although in the absence of any Chancellor, University ran pretty well, claims the officials.
But Tripura University had to observe many important events without the dean, including 2012’s convocation programme.
According to the rule, the new recommended names would go to the President of India, who is also known as the visitor of a University. After that the decision is taken who would be the next Chancellor of a University. However in this regard, University’s authorities’ decisions are always given the highest value.
In total 7 person’s names has been listed as the “would be” Chancellor of this University. They are: Ratan Tata, V.S. Narayan Murti, Ajim Premjee, Prof. Ashok Nath Bashu, Prof. Ashok Sen, Prof. Gobordhan Meheta, Prof. Radhaballav Tripathi.
Now it’s to be seen who would be the next Dean of Tripura University.
