NEW DELHI/AGARTALA (TIWN): The Arjuna awards are given to Indian sports persons to recognize their outstanding achievements in their respective sports.

It is learnt that the selection committee has recommended 17 names for the prestigious Arjuna award.

Here is the complete list of athletes recommended for Arjuna Award 2015

 Jitu Rai - Shooter

Rohit Sharma - Cricketer

Dipa Karmakar - Gymnast

P R Sreejesh - Hockey player

Bajrang - Wrestler

Babita – Wrestler

M R Poovamma - Athlete

K Srikanth - Shuttler

Mandeep Jangra - Boxer

Sandeep Kumar - Archery

Swarn Singh - Rowing

Satish Sivalingam - Weightlifting

Santhoi Devi - Wushu

Sharath Gaekwad - Para-sailing

Manjeet Chhillar - Kabaddi

Abhilasha Mhatre - Kabaddi

Anup Kumar – Rollerskating

 The recommendations will now be sent to the Sports Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, who will take a final decision. Only after the Sports Minister signs the file, the names would be made public.

The awards are to be given away by the President Pranab Mukherjee on August 29, the National Sports Day.
