AGARTALA, August 8 (TIWN): Finally the two accused of the Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA) scam Ambalika Dutta and Arnab Chakroborty who was found involved to multi-crore scam managed to come out from the jail after the Tripura High Court (HC) recently granted the bail plea of the duo. The decision of the court to grant the bail plea of accused Ambalika has come out in response to the bail plea filed by Ambalika earlier.
After the multi-crore scamster Arnab Chakroborty hailed from Tripura was nabbed from Kolkata Ambalika Datta, education department deputy director and in-charge of Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA), was arrested on July 14 on charge of embezzling more than Rs. 4 crore from a central government scheme.
She was arrested for allegedly embezzling more than Rs.4 crore from a central government scheme on the month of July. The state government had lodged an FIR in the multi-crore scam against several officials. Education Department Additional Director Dilip Kumar Debbarma was suspended earlier from service for his reported involvement in the multi-crore scam.
Education department cashier Arnab Chakraborty was also arrested on September 13 previous year from West Bengal for his suspected involvement in siphoning off over Rs.4 crore sanctioned by the central government for the implementation of RMSA.
In the preliminary probe, police found wrongdoings of more than Rs 4 crore sanctioned by the union governemnt's Human Resource Development Ministry under the Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA).
Education Department sources said Arnab Chakraborty was dealing with the fund of the RMSA, a centrally sponsored scheme for the expansion of secondary education in public schools.
