AGARTALA, August 5 (TIWN): To ensure the socio-economic development of women in rural areas, Poorna Sakti Kendra was inaugurated on Tuesday at Sukanta Academy Auditorium.
The programme was inaugurated by Social Welfare and Social Education Minister Bijita Nath.
“One of the important elements of the project is the stress on bringing about women’s empowerment through implementing various strategies on the ground,” says Minister Social Welfare and Social Education.
With the initiatives of the Tripura Commission for Women and with the financial support of the Ministry of Women & Child Development, the Poorna Sakti Kendra was established on March 2, 2015.
As a part of acceptance project of the state, the Poorna Sakti Kendra will be established in nine village panchayet of various block of West District for offering services to women at the grassroots.
Through this project schemes for women will be brought to grass root level so that the women of these areas can come to know about the various schemes of the government and can get help from it.
The Kendra will maintain a database of target population. They will generate awareness on legal rights and entitlements.
Further they will facilitate the availability and access to government schemes, services and programmes regarding health, education and livelihood sectors.
They will organize women into collectives to access various resources and will coordinate the outreach of services of various departments.
However, during the programme a power point presentation has been done introducing the Poorna Sakti Kendra, by District Coordinator of PSK Jiban Debbarma.
